Welcome to my website.
I love reading about other people's art journeys, but if you don't want to read the preamble please scroll down to the images.
Like many of us, when I was young I had no structured art education, and never believed I could draw and paint. But in the 1980s, I discovered photography as a way of self expression. I joined a community arts group, worked in administration at an arts university, continued taking photos, and gradually found the confidence (in 1993) to apply for a place on the new MA course in Graphic Fine Arts at Canterbury.
In 2004, I moved from Kent to Norfolk (UK). By now, photography had gone digital, and I felt I needed to return to something more basic. So I joined various art classes and workshops, and found that what I love most is drawing and painting - particularly watercolour. I also enjoy working with collage.
In 2012, I took a one-year break in order to write a novel, Time Tells (available on Amazon). But I soon felt once again the strong urge to express myself visually.
For subjects, I look to still life, landscape, gardens, and memory. Please scroll down for examples of my work. A mixed bag, in no particular order.
